A Permanent Cure for Anxiety and Depression
About one in five people in the US suffer from anxiety according to many recent published scientific studies, with mental health problems as a whole accounting for 40% of adult disability in modern society. More alarming facts are that one out of three people in the US have suffered from symptoms of anxiety sometime during their life, with 40 million people in the US suffering from anxiety currently. Young adults are becoming more prone to various social stresses that have come about over the past 25 years which has contributed to a 63% increase in symptoms of anxiety and depression between the years of 2005 to 2017, according to recent studies. A closer look at the consequences of anxiety and depression shows that death from opioids and heroin overdose, during the same period, is rising in a very dramatic fashion.
Very typically, as I have experienced personally and collected data on over many decades, medical doctors prescribe antidepressants, antianxiety medication, various tranquilizers and everything in between for just about any complaint you can imagine. Estimates from a recent Scientific American (2016) article state that one out of six people in the US is taking a psychiatric drug of some kind with 25% of retirees taking at least one psychiatric drug currently. Drug sales for antidepressant medication alone are valued at US $16 billion per year, insomnia drugs are worth $765 million, antianxiety drugs bring in more than $3.8 billion per year etc. Wow, great news for Big Pharma!
However, these drugs often lose their effectiveness after months to years and must be exchanged for another new drug and so on. The side effects can be very damaging and even deadly. There are alternatives available, however, as is typical for all chronic disease, traditional medicine offers a cause that is obtuse such as genetics, stress and a mood disorder, and the cure, obscure and only treatable through medication. Wow, again that is great news for Big Pharma! Fortunately, digging deep into the literature I was able find a number of causes and long-term cures that make total sense and correlate well with my decades long study of chronic disease.
Anxiety and depression have been well-documented over many decades to be related to low levels or an of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, gamma-butyric acid (GABA), norepinephrine and dopamine, and indeed medications prescribed increase these levels of neurotransmitters. As most of serotonin is made in the gut, with some sources stating as high as 95%, it makes sense that nutrition would play a part in increasing serotonin, as gut health is directly related to diet. The diets of people with mental disorders are typically poor and in fact, exceptional nutritional deficiencies, including omega-3 fatty acids, certain vitamins and minerals, are highly correlated with mental disorders. In addition, amino acid supplementation has been demonstrated to contribute to an increase in certain neurotransmitters like serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine. So, it seems that a specific diet and certain detox protocols, can be very beneficial for decreasing the symptoms of depression and anxiety.
But yet, this is still so much more to the story. Severely depressed, or even mentally deranged people, have been determined to have very low zinc levels. Ring a bell? Low levels of zinc have also been implicated in people susceptible to Covid-19 and zinc is often listed in the “go to” supplements touted to provide protection and relief from infection and immune system deficiency as well as skin related disorders. Moreover, low levels of zinc are routinely found in people who are heavy metal toxic. Heavy metal toxic people very typically experience anxiety and depression.
Heavy metals cause mineral deficiencies. I first encountered this studying the work of Dr Andrew Cutler, and later I went on to publish a 400 page, 500 source book on mercury toxicity and how mercury was the cause of my insomnia, which continued for 5 years only offset by drugs and eventually turned into occasional, debilitating anxiety. Meanwhile, 99% of all anxiety sufferers that seek treatment, end up on prescription drugs like benzodiazepines (worth $3.8 billion BTW, with 14 million people currently addicted) to keep them going for a few months before they need a new drug. This is precisely why I ended up studying medicine, because no one could fix my insomnia/anxiety, and I did not want to wind up taking prescription drugs like benzodiazepines for the rest of my life. I discovered supplementing with potassium and magnesium, which I was deficient in, completely cured my anxiety and insomnia. What really motivated me to study more was the fact that not one of the ten doctors in two countries that I saw repetitively, ever mentioned heavy metals or mineral deficiencies.
During the last 6 years I have helped scores of people recover from anxiety and insomnia through diet changes, supplementation and using Rife technology.
